When Cliniko is the right call

For most clinicians, Cliniko is the better tool, and these are the reasons:

  • You write treatment notes after every appointment and want them next to the diary.
  • You invoice patients or insurers from the same system.
  • You take payments at booking or in clinic.
  • Your patients expect text-message reminders.

When Aasure is the right call

Aasure fits a narrower practice, where the diary and the relationship are the job:

  • Your notes already live in another system, or your work does not need clinical notes.
  • You want follow-ups and email campaigns that bring patients back.
  • You'd rather pay one flat fee for up to 2, 7 or 20 staff.

The honest version

Cliniko is clinic software, and Aasure is not. If you need treatment notes, invoices and payments in one place, Cliniko's features page lists all three. Aasure would leave you running a second system for the clinical side.

The case for Aasure is the half of practice life that is not clinical. That means filling cancelled slots, reminding patients and bringing back the ones who drifted. If that is where your week goes, and your notes are settled elsewhere, a lighter tool can be the better fit. See how Aasure works for physio and therapy clinics.

Most people comparing Cliniko alternatives should probably stay on Cliniko. It holds treatment notes, invoices and payments, and Aasure does none of those. Where Aasure fits is narrower: practitioners whose notes live somewhere else, or whose work does not need them. Here is how the two compare.

Common questions

Is Aasure a Cliniko alternative?

Only for some practitioners. Cliniko is practice management software with treatment notes, invoices and payments. Aasure handles bookings, reminders, the waitlist and follow-ups, and holds no clinical notes. It suits practitioners who keep notes elsewhere, or whose work does not need them.

How much is Cliniko?

Cliniko's pricing page lists monthly prices by number of practitioners, in US dollars. One practitioner costs $45, two to five cost $95, and six to eight cost $145. Larger tiers run up to $395 for 26 to 200. SMS reminders cost 10 cents a message on top, and there is a 30-day free trial. Those were the published prices in October 2026.

Where does Aasure store patient data?

Aasure stores customer data in the United States. It holds contact details, booking history and general notes, but no clinical records. If your profession requires clinical records hosted in a particular country, keep them in a system that provides that.

Can I move my patient list from Cliniko?

Yes, your contact list can come across, and you can export it again whenever you want. Treatment notes stay in Cliniko, or in whichever notes system you use, because Aasure does not hold them.
